What is happening here? A stop sign causing accidents?

There’s a pesky stop sign at a Walmart in Maine that has caused countless accidents, but it isn’t being removed. Auburn Police Chief Jason Moen says the department has responded to at least 130 accidents at the sign since 2020. No one can figure out why so it’s been given a ridiculous makeover. This isn’t the first makeover, but hopefully the last. The edges and the word STOP are now lit up with LED bulbs and there are two barricades around it. Before the change, a woman even asked that the sign be removed in her obituary!
